Senior Structural Analyst

Location: Bethlehem, PA

Rotating Machinery Services, (RMS) is seeking a Senior Structural Analyst at our Bethlehem facility with core hours of 8am to 5pm. The Senior Structural Analyst is responsible for structurally modeling components from all of the RMS product lines in order to ensure reliability of modified designs, changes in operating conditions, and for root cause failure analysis. The Senior Structural Analyst creates structural analysis models using industry current mechanical Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software packages and hand calculation methodologies.

The Senior Structural Analyst effectively documents and communicates the results to other members of the design team in order to inform design decisions and to report out to customers. Additionally, the Senior Structural Analyst is responsible for managing the RMS database of material properties and metallurgical replica preparation. The Senior Structural Analyst works closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Applications teams to drive projects forward. The position also acts as a mentoring role to local and remote staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Rerates, modified, and new turbomachinery mechanical/thermal analyses and design
  • Build structural analysis models in 2-D and 3-D from machine drawings and CAD models
  • Collaborate with the drafting and inspection departments to facilitate reverse engineering of turbomachinery components for structural analysis
  • Research and manage the RMS database of thermal and mechanical material properties for all materials used in RMS designs (i.e. modulus of elasticity, conduction, tensile strength, etc.)
  • Leads efforts to prepare metallurgical replicas to be evaluated by a qualified metallurgist for remaining life analyses
  • Collaborate with product managers and applications engineering to quote future work that requires structural analysis
  • Write reports based on structural analyses which effectively communicate and discuss findings as well as recommended design changes
  • Participate in the creation of design criteria and methodologies as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher (Preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of turbomachinery analysis or design experience, including the use of standard mechanical engineering analysis and software
  • Experience in Turbomachinery component design
  • Ability to analyze components and assemblies to meet design goals and established criteria
  • Ability to use industry standard CAD systems for design and model creation (i.e. Solidworks)
  • Ability to use industry standard FEA software for structural analysis (i.e., ANSYS)
  • Knowledge of programming infrastructure or some programming experience in industry common languages preferred (VBA, Matlab, Fortran, etc.)

Senior Oil-Free Screw (OFS) Engineer

Location: Houston

Rotating Machinery Services, Inc. (RMS) is seeking a qualified Senior Engineer to join the Oil-Free Screw (OFS) product line. The Senior Engineer will lead projects involving the inspection, disposition, modeling, and design calculations associated with the OFS equipment Daily responsibilities typically involve approval of inspection results, approval of drawings and layouts, writing technical reports, performance of design calculations, electronic modeling of components, and presentation of results to a wide range of individuals both within and outside the organization.

The Senior engineer will be expected to develop new and novel approaches to problem solving by staying abreast of the latest industry trends and available technologies. Individuals at the Senior Engineer level are expected to have a working understanding of the field operation of equipment and relate that operation back to their design inputs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Optimize repair, manufacturing, and testing processes including tooling/fixtures/equipment implementation
  • Create shop routers, shop procedures, inspection forms, and other applicable process documentation
  • Provide shop technical support during processing of repair, manufacturing, and testing of equipment
  • Provide supplier technical support for special processes to establish and achieve quality requirements
  • Provide site technical support for turnarounds, installation, and start-up of equipment
  • Design, develop, analyze and document product designs which meet the function, cost, reliability, manufacturability and safety requirements of RMS
  • Work directly with to designers on 2D and 3D CAD layout creation and machine redesign
  • Review and approve detail design drawings

Qualifications

  • 4-year Engineering Degree (mechanical preferred). Advanced degree beneficial
  • High proficiency with solid modeling software (SOLIDWORKS preferred), computational analytical tools (such as ANSYS), specialized RMS design applications software, and general office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • 8 years or more in a engineer role working on OFS, rotating equipment, or the oil/gas sector
  • Previous or current OFS engineering experience very helpful, but, not required

Oil-Free Screw or Centrifugal Compressor Mechanic

Location: Houston

Due to growth, Rotating Machinery Services, Inc. (RMS) is seeking qualified Oil-Free Screw or Centrifugal Compressor Mechanic’s for our Houston shop location.

The Oil-Free Screw or Centrifugal Compressor Mechanic position will perform a variety of mechanical operations/tasks on rotating equipment components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.

Knowledge Requirements Minimum requirements to fulfill this role

  • Complete “as received” photo documentation and visual inspection of assemblies and customer furnished spare parts
  • Disassemble complex rotating equipment and provide written observations of failure modes and condition of “as received” parts
  • Assist in cleaning and prepping parts for NDT and PMI examination.
  • Perform and document detailed dimensional and runout inspection of all components
  • Provide written inspection report, to include recommended repairs, and replacement parts needed
  • Provide written instructions and drawings to other crafts involved in manufacture or repair of components
  • Perform quality checks on customer furnished, manufactured, and repaired components prior to final assembly
  • Assemble equipment complete per OEM, ASME, API, or customer supplied specification
  • Document all final sizes, clearances, and documentation to provide customer with a final repair report
  • Set up and perform hydrotest or pneumatic pressure test, as required, on equipment per customer specifications
  • Communicate with supervision, crafts, and customers during the inspection and repair process
  • Supply basic mechanics tools and measuring devices required to complete work as assigned
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Ability and willingness to work in an environment of constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities

Proposal Specialist

Location: Houston, TX

The Proposals Specialist will develop winning strategies to close profitable orders for RMS product lines including AC Compressor. Drive the quotation process to support the Sales organization, as well as engage with cross-functional teams to generate proposals and provide commercial strategy for the Spare Parts, Field Services, or Repairs pertaining to the global installed fleet of AC Compressor. This position is a 40+ hours position.

Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all aspects of commercial management, including proposal development, risk management & mitigation, specification compliance, scope development, transactional pricing, customer negotiations, customer communications, and issue resolution. Specific focus on customer responsiveness.
    • Function as Inside Sales, interfacing with customers and internal team to drive order growth in line with company forecasts.
    • Provide technical, profitability, and commercial inputs to support Risk Management processes.
    • Interact with repair engineers, shop floor, and field application engineers to obtain all required information to develop proposals.
    • Define proposal strategy in connection with cross-functional teams within RMS.
    • Provide basic technical support and technical suggestion to customers.
    • Responsible for proposal completeness and on-time proposal delivery according to Customer requirements, and KPI’s.
    • Work with project management team and customer to optimize convertibility of orders.
    • Responsible for contracts commitment and approval during negotiation, and handoff to project team.

    Job Requirements and Qualifications:

      • Prior experience in Commercial and Sales environment, including Inside Sales.
      • Experience in Oil and Gas services and/or products preferred

      • Ability to communicate effectively with customers.- Strong business acumen
      • High motivation level, ability to work without supervision, or external motivation
      • Industry knowledge / competitive landscape understanding at a transactional level

      Education:

        • The position will be based full time in our Houston, TX facility.
        • Travel time is expected to be 0 – 10%
