Rotordynamic Analysis

RMS’s rotor dynamic and torsional analysis capabilities span a wide range of product lines andapplications. We have the tools and expertise that allow us to carry out lateral analysis including Level 1 and 2 stability analysis, bearing and seal analysis, impeller cross coupling analysis and torsional analysis. Our world class machine shop capabilities include reverse engineering, giving our team the ability to reproduce and predict rotor responses. RMS has experience in the rotor dynamic performance analysis of centrifugal compressors, axial compressor, steam turbines, gas turbines, and hot gas expanders on equipment from multiple OEM’s as well as OEM support for AC Compressor and CONMEC turbomachinery.

An important part of RMS’s rotor dynamic and torsional analysis offerings is the rerate analysis and design. During the lifecycle of a given compressor or turbine the process requirements around it may change. Instead of buying an all new machine to replace the old one: a rerate could be considered. A rerate allows existing machinery to be redesigned to satisfy different performance requirements. RMS has completed rerates for single, and multi-stage compressors on various OEM’s equipment.

Structural Analysis

RMS offers a rich background in structural analysis capabilities to serve a variety of needs throughout the design process. High-fidelity finite element analysis (FEA) is performed using industry leading software and expertise to assist with simulation-driven design, failure investigation, design validation, design re-rate, design optimization, etc.

Various types of analyses are used in combination with deep engineering experience to provide enhanced insights into rotating machinery performance. Structural analysis is used to support the entire RMS product family including centrifugal compressors, axial compressors, steam turbines, and expanders. The types of analyses range from simple linear-elastic, modal/frequency, thermal, and high-cycle fatigue analyses to more advanced non-linear elastic-plastic, transient, multi-linear plastic, fracture mechanics, and low-cycle fatigue calculation.

Aerodynamic Analysis

RMS’s aerodynamic analysis capabilities span a wide range of product lines and applications. We have the tools and expertise that allow us to carry out quick and simple performance estimates, or complex full 3D performance analysis depending on your need. Our world class machine shop capabilities include reverse engineering, giving our aero team the ability to reproduce and predict performance for inspected parts and stages. RMS has experience in the aerodynamic performance analysis of centrifugal compressors, axial compressor, steam turbines, gas turbines, and hot gas expanders on equipment from multiple OEM’s. RMS is also now proud to support legacy AC/Conmec turbomachinery.
